Reiki Myths
Reiki is a religion. False. While Reiki is certainly about spirituality, it has no connections to any religion. Even the guiding principles that serve as the foundation of Reiki have no connection to religion.
Reiki can cure everything. False. Reiki isn’t a cure-all for anything. Instead, it assists to help create a relaxation response and promotes a mind-body state conducive to healing. Reiki healing involves spiritual, emotional and mental unblocking and re-balancing to help get to the root cause of a condition, get back on track and create an optimal environment in which for the body to heal.
Reiki is a form of massage therapy. False. Although the practitioner may use gentle strokes or light pressure on the body, the goal is not to manipulate the muscles or tissues. The Reiki practitioner’s goal is to balance and clear blocked or stagnant energy.
Reiki practitioners can heal people. False. A Reiki practitioner facilitates the flow of universal life force energy to the client in order to promote relaxation and rebalance the mind, body and spirit. Reiki practitioners don’t have the powers to heal you they just help you; your healing can not be a delegated task. Only you can heal yourself.
Reiki is a very different experience for everyone. My best advice is to come and have your own experience in a safe and loving space.
